Caribbean Corner Library, Caribbean Corner, Toronto, Canada 2015-2016

In 2010, I installed a functioning library inside ACA Foods market, a West Indian grocery store in Hartford (Hartford has the fourth largest Caribbean population in North America). In 2015 the library was installed inside Caribbean Corner in Toronto, Canada. This exclusively Caribbean library was open to all patrons of the market. The books were organized by category (i.e. region, history, children) and arranged on shelves alongside the customary products and provisions sold in the store. For example, the political titles were found among the hot pepper sauces; children's books were next to biscuits and cookies; Jamaican authors alongside jerk sauces..
