Stopgap Fix Foolproof (Provisorium Repariert Perfektion), Handmade sign, lectern Documenta 15, Installation view at Trafo Haus, Kassel, Germany, 2022 I collaborated with Trinidad’s famed artist and sign maker Bruce Cayonne, Alice Yard, and the Tunis design studio El Warcha (who also participated in Documenta 15). I came up with the phrase “Stopgap Fix Foolproof ”—an attempt to illustrate the problematic circuit of Western reliance on bureaucratic and top - down institutional systems that dictate a singular/“universal” way to conduct “civil” society. The English and German - translated signs were adhered to the provisional lectern, fabricated with milk crates, by El Warcha. The work was installed at Trafo Haus, avenue that hosts art exhibitions, music projects, performances, workshops, medicinal gardening, and an independent radio station.
